Floyd County is also part of the Greater Louisville Metropolitan Statistical Area with a population of just over 72 thousand projected to grow to over 82 thousand within the next decade. The main city in Floyd County is New Albany with a population of just over 40 thousand with other communities such as Georgetown, Floyds Knobs, Galena and Greenville.
